EXCELLENCE IN EVERY WASH. It's August, and yep, it's still hot!August is here, and it feels like the heat and storms will never let up. As summer heads towards the finish line, we're preparing for the kids' return to school and for us to return to our post-summer routines. We understand how busy these transitions can be. So, instead of focusing on the heat, this month's newsletter offers valuable tips to help you smoothly transition your property into the next season. We're also highlighting another great Envirowash team member, Manuel. Finally, please don't miss out on our project highlights, with one being a Richmond landmark you likely know well! Let's jump in first with a bit of pressure-washing trivia... TIPS FOR OUTDOOR SPACESTO PREPARE FOR FALLWe’ve experienced the extremes this summer, as the weather has swung back and forth between heat waves and heavy seasonal rains. For your outdoor spaces, this means accumulations of debris such as dirt, mud, and algae that can affect the appearance and condition of your home. As you prepare for your post-summer or fall pressure washing service, here are some helpful tips to get your spaces ready: Inspect the Area: Look for signs of damage or wear, such as loose deck boards, cracked patio stones, or peeling paint, and address necessary issues to prevent further damage. Remove Obstacles: Clear the area of furniture, outdoor grills, and decorative items to facilitate easier access for washing. Cover Plants and Landscaping: Use tarps or plastic sheeting to shield plants, flowers, and landscaping near the washing area from the washing treatment. Close Vents and Outlets: Cover vents or electrical outlets to avoid water infiltration and potential hazards. Additional considerations for commercial properties include: Parking Lots: We recommend commercial property owners inspect parking areas to remove any unwanted items and expose all necessary cleaning areas. Scheduling. Notify tenants of pressure-washing services, even if scheduled after hours, to inform them so they can plan any activities accordingly. Pre-Cleaning Inspection. Complete a walk-through of the property grounds to remove or secure any temporary items, such as banners, furniture, flags, etc., that tenants may use. Also, note areas that may be particularly sensitive so your technician can plan accordingly.
STONE, BRICK & TILE REFRESHThis month's residential project highlights the visible improvement on various outdoor surfaces by the Envirowash team. For example, the stone pavers appeared dull and uneven, and after the treatment, each stone's unique color and texture is now visible. Further, the brick walkway, steps, and the tiled area by the pool are significantly brighter after cleaning and give a uniform appearance. We love sharing this project, as it demonstrates how the proper treatment can restore your home's charm and aesthetic appeal! Don't wait—inquire about your quote to revive your outdoor spaces before the fall breezes arrive! RIVERFRONT CANAL WALKThis month, we're featuring work on an iconic landmark: the Richmond Riverfront Canal Walk. The Canal Walk in Richmond, Virginia, presents several maintenance challenges, primarily due to its historical significance and frequent use. Our team had to consider the area's significant foot and bike traffic and surfaces such as brick, metal, and wood. Due to the historical and natural elements along the Canal, we had to ensure that all washing was environmentally friendly and non-damaging. We captured a portion of the area where we used gentle but effective cleaning techniques to preserve the area's integrity without causing damage. EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: MANUELMeet Manny, a dedicated team member who joined us from the construction industry two years ago. He's a man of few words and has an outstanding work ethic. His dedication quickly made him a favorite among our customers. Originally from Mexico, Manny cherishes time with his wife and stepson. He enjoys jogging, reading, and playing Xbox soccer. When he travels, Manny enjoys hiking and camping in the Shenandoah Valley or exploring museums in Washington, D.C. He also loves Italian food, especially lasagna! RECLAMATIONReclamation and retrieval of wash water is a critical part of many projects. Envirowash has a state-of-the-art reclamation trailer designed for this type of work. Technicians are trained on using the trailer machines, pumps, and hoses to properly wash, contain, collect, and reclaim steam/wash water from sensitive job sites to be disposed of per all local, state, and federal ordinances by Envirowash Technicians. Job sites with drains leading to our creeks, rivers, and other drinking water bodies must be reclaimed. Water-filled dikes should be used to control and direct water flow to the lowest point of the concrete pad. A high-volume vacuum should be used to collect and contain wash water. Whether washing construction debris off a new building or carefully removing mildew and stains from a historic property, Envirowash has the experience, tools, and knowledge to complete any commercial job.
