September brings the first hints of fall to Virginia, and is a great time to look at what a summer of heat, humidity, storms, and organic growth may have left behind. This month, we’re taking you from a beautiful Richmond residence to one of downtown Richmond’s most recognizable buildings. Our crews recently took on exterior cleaning at the Virginia Lottery building, combining specialized access, professional equipment, and an experienced team to work high above the city. We’re also highlighting a residential project where careful cleaning brought renewed color and definition to classic brickwork and surrounding hardscapes. No matter the size of your home or building, our team will choose the right process for the surface and protect the property while we work. Contact Envirowash to discuss your property and request an estimate today! RESIDENTIAL PROJECT SPOTLIGHTBringing Out the Character in Classic Brick There is something stunning about well-maintained brick, especially on a home where the masonry is such an important part of its character. For this residential project, our team worked across the home’s brick exterior and surrounding hardscape, including a beautiful herringbone brick walkway. The cleaning helped bring back the natural variation in the masonry, reviving deep reds and warm earth tones to the contrasting mortar lines that define the pattern. Brick and masonry require a thoughtful approach to the age, mortar condition, staining, and surrounding materials when determining how a surface should be cleaned. The difference is especially noticeable along the walkway. With accumulated surface buildup removed, individual bricks stand out again and the entire path has a brighter, more finished appearance. COMMERCIAL PROJECT SPOTLIGHT300 Feet of Clean: Virginia Lottery Building Some projects put our equipment to work. Others put our experience (and our comfort with heights!) to the test. Our most recent project took on exterior cleaning at the Virginia Lottery building in downtown Richmond, working roughly 300 feet above the ground to clean the upper portions of this skyline property. Using suspended access equipment, our technicians worked directly along the building exterior, addressing areas that simply can’t be reached using conventional methods. Projects at this scale require careful planning, specialized access, trained technicians, and equipment suited to the building and working conditions. Our crews are highly experienced and recognized for our performance in complex exterior cleaning and restoration projects. Reach out to us for your building's next cleaning! 300 feet up with our experienced Envirowash crew!

WHAT SUMMER LEAVES BEHINDVirginia summers can be tough on exterior surfaces. Heat, humidity, frequent rain, and shade can create favorable conditions for mold, mildew, and other organic buildup. ENVIROWASH SPOTLIGHT: TACOThis week, we’re shining the spotlight on Taco Gutierrez! Taco is one of our main wash crew members and has become a go-to mentor for the other guys on the team. He may be one of the quieter members of the crew, but give him the chance and he’ll definitely have you laughing. Taco shows up for the team and makes sure the job gets done. His willingness to help, support the crew, and lead by example does not go unnoticed! We’re glad to have you on the team, Taco!

Richmond has seen its share of wet weather this summer, and all that moisture can leave a mark long after the clouds clear. Driveways, siding, roofs, walkways, and commercial exteriors can stay damp, collect runoff, and develop organic buildup, particularly in shaded areas. That makes late summer a good time to take a closer look around your property. Darkened concrete, green growth, sediment, staining, and slippery walkways may all become more noticeable after repeated periods of rain. This...
