Restoring the Past And Protecting the Future

Summer is one of our busiest seasons, and it's also when our work is on full display. We believe every surface tells a story, whether it's a residential project or a beloved local landmark, and our job is to protect it while bringing out its best appearance.

This month we're proud to highlight one of Virginia's architectural treasures, showcase a beautiful residential transformation, and recognize one of the incredible people who makes it all possible.

PROJECT SPOTLIGHTS

Driveway and Pool Sealing: A Complete Exterior Refresh

This month's residential project demonstrates how professional surface restoration can dramatically improve curb appeal without replacing existing hardscapes. The "Before & After" aerial comparison shows a faded, weathered driveway restored to a rich, uniform appearance that complements the home's landscaping and architecture. The fresh concrete stain provides deeper color while creating a cleaner, more upscale entrance.

Around the backyard, our team applied a premium protective sealant to the pool surround, enhancing the natural color of the concrete while helping protect it from moisture, UV exposure, and everyday wear. We also refreshed both paver entrances to complete the property's polished appearance.

The result is an outdoor space that feels brighter, cleaner, and ready for years of enjoyment.

We love helping homeowners extend the life of their home investment through proper cleaning, restoration, and surface protection.

Let Envirowash transform your outdoor entertaining space for summer.

Thomas Jefferson High School: Preserving a Local Treasure

One of our current commercial projects takes us to Thomas Jefferson High School, one of Virginia's finest examples of Art Deco architecture.

The images show our team carefully pressure washing the limestone façade from a boom lift, allowing technicians to safely reach intricate architectural details several stories above the ground. The cleaning process is removing environmental staining while preserving the delicate stone carving and historic masonry that make this building unique.

The before-and-during images clearly illustrate the contrast between weathered surfaces and freshly cleaned limestone, revealing the original color and craftsmanship hidden beneath the buildup.

When the school opened, it was considered one of the most modern high schools in the South, featuring:

  • Monumental limestone and brick construction
  • Beautiful Art Deco sculptures and decorative stonework
  • A large auditorium
  • Advanced science laboratories
  • A public-school planetarium—an incredibly rare feature at the time

Because of its architectural significance, the building was added to both the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

Projects like this require patience, experience, and respect for historic preservation. We're honored to help maintain a building that has served generations of students and remains an important part of Virginia's history.

💧 Summer Maintenance Tip

Summer heat, afternoon storms, and increased humidity can accelerate mold, algae, and surface staining on concrete, brick, and stone.

Regular professional cleaning and protective sealing help:

  • Prevent premature surface deterioration
  • Reduce slippery algae buildup
  • Protect decorative concrete and pavers
  • Extend the life of driveways, patios, and pool decks
  • Keep commercial properties looking professional year-round

Preventative maintenance is almost always less expensive than restoration after years of neglect.

📢 EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: ELI 📢

We’re excited to shine the spotlight on Eli, a key member of our leadership team. Eli sets the tone for excellence and integrity every day, ensuring that jobs are completed safely and that we exceed customer expectations.

His mantra is “Leave everything better than you found it.” He embodies the Golden Rule, treating everyone with the same kindness and respect he’d want in return.

When he’s not on the job, Eli plays the keyboard and sings at his church, reflecting his strong faith and his focus on living a purposeful life.

Also, Eli is a big fan of steak (the classic American favorite!), but his top foods come straight from his roots: Mexican Barbacoa, Caldo de Res (Mexican beef soup), and Tamales—all packed with flavor and tradition!

Eli is a man with big dreams and a plan to match—he’s working hard to buy a house here in a few years while already owning one back in Mexico. His personal, professional, and spiritual goals drive him to show up and give his best every day.

Spring has arrived, and with it comes the perfect opportunity to refresh your home and property after the wear of winter. Pollen, moisture, and debris can take a toll on exterior surfaces, making this one of the most important times of year for a thorough cleaning. A professional cleaning removes these contaminants safely and prepares surfaces for additional services like sealing or staining. Starting early in the season helps prevent deeper staining and keeps maintenance manageable...

If your car is already turning yellow, you’re not imagining it—pollen season has arrived early in Richmond. It's easy to notice on windshields, but the real buildup is happening on your home and property surfaces. Brick, patios, walkways, and entry areas are some of the first places to collect pollen, moisture, and organic debris. Left untreated, this buildup can dull surfaces, create slippery conditions, and even contribute to long-term staining. This month, we’re highlighting two projects...
